Basic and very Useful Gardening Tools
Gardening is good for the soul, and one of the most enjoyable activities to do. But every gardener needs useful gardening tools to make their gardening experience as stress-free as possible. Following are some basic useful gardening tools every gardener should have.
Useful gardening Tools
A shovel is a must in any garden, it’s worth investing in a really solid one.
A good set of gardening gloves (read why you need gardening gloves here), these will protect your hands from damage and the creepy crawlies in the garden.
A wheelbarrow, useful for carting stuff around your garden. You can buy wheelbarrows that are designed for the garden.
Mattock is good to break up hard soil and preparing the soil for planting.
Hose & sprinkler, always have a hose, make sure it’s long enough to reach to the edges of your garden; a sprinkler is great on a hot day. Set it up under a shady tree and let the kids, cat, dog & chickens enjoy it.
Garden fork, a useful tool for mulching, aerating the soil and loosening the soil.
Rake, raking up those leaves to put into your compost or directly onto your gardens for mulch. Also good for levelling surfaces.
Hand trowel and hand gardening fork for planting seedlings.
Secateurs, make sure they are sharp, good for trimming shrubs and trees.
A wide-brimmed hat and long sleeves for sun protection.
These are the gardening tools I use the most in my garden, my wheelbarrow has been used for all sorts of activities, when the kids where younger they loved the ride on the top of the load in the wheelbarrow and when it was empty coming back, I certainly built up my muscles in those days. I’m glad they outgrew the wheelbarrow.
Try to buy quality if you can and if looked after you will have these tools for a long time. I still have some old gardening tools around here somewhere.
As always love what you grow, enjoy.
